Description

Dick Ayers and John Tartaglione Sgt. Fury Annual #3 Story Page 18 Original Art (Marvel, 1967). Sgt. Nick Fury cuts loose on a Vietnam mission -- or rather, Col. Nick Fury, promoted in rank to tackle new responsibilities as the most daring Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. This modern-day (as of 1967) story dovetails with Fury's spinoff "S.H.I.E.L.D." series in Marvel's Strange Tales. Here, Fury swaps bull-goose insults with a recurring antagonist from World War II, Sgt. Bull McGiveney, as they prepare to reunite Fury's commando squadron for an attack upon North Vietnam. Dependable Marvel workhorse Ayers delivers enough square-jawed macho expressions to fill a book. The dialogue makes a clever passing reference to Nancy Sinatra's hit record of the period, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'." Autographed at lower right. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Very Good condition, with marginal notes.
