Description

Heavy Metal Color Model Cel (Columbia, 1981). A fantastic hand-painted color model cel from the cult classic 1981 film Heavy Metal. This color model cel comes from the beginning of the Taarna section, directed by John Bruno (1971 - present). The cel can be found at about 58:22 as the villagers approach the glowing volcano that the Loc-Nar, the antagonist of the film, landed in the moments prior. The cel lists six different colors for this unnamed hat-wearing villager and has an embossed seal in the lower left. Color models like this would have been used to keep the character's color scheme consistent through the production process. This was an undeniably important part of the process considering artists would have to paint thousands of frames. The figure measures around 10'' x 6.75'' in a roughly 11.75'' x 9'' mat window. It is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes. Minor handling wear, light line fading, and small paint chips. Very Good condition overall.
