Description

An Itch in Time A. Flea Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Warner Brothers, 1943). "There'll be food around the corner..." sings happy-go-lucky A. Flea as he settles down on Elmer Fudd's dog for a bite (or two). What kid who grew up watching old Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts on TV doesn't know this jaunty little tune? Bob Clampett directed this laugh-riot, which was released on 12/4/1943, at the height or World War II food rationing on the home front. "They'll be no more Meatless Tuesdays...." Here are two rare original 12 field animation drawings of A. Flea (the "A" is later revealed to stand for Anthony, in the 1947 short A Horse Fly Fleas) as he marks the spot with his pencil, and gets ready to start working his pick axe; the first drawing, noted as 27 in the lower right, occurs at the 4:43 mark in online viewings, while the second, noted as 43, occurs two seconds later. Art is in graphite and red pencil, with image sizes of 2.5" x 3.25" and 2.5" x 2.5". A Chuck Jones Gallery Letter of Authenticity is included with the art. The drawings show some handling/edge wear, and age-related paper toning with a few small stains. Overall condition is Good.
