Description
Frank Willard and Ferd Johnson Moon Mullins Daily Comic Strip Original Art Dated 8-29-30 (Chicago Tribune, 1930). Uncouth Uncle Willie barges in on a late-night tryst between Emmy Schmaltz and the newly wealthy Commodore Gruntmore. Emphatic body-language and facial expressions, here, and a brisk job of pen-point inking from longtime assistant Johnson -- who eventually became more of a brush-inker. An episode from a sustained continuity of mid-1930. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 20" x 6". Light toning. Small stain in second gutter. One small tear (upper right) extends slightly into the artwork. Very Good condition.Auction Info
