Description

Rod Whigham and Mike DeCarlo The Shadow Strikes! #27 Story Page 25 Original Art (DC Comics, 1992). The crimebusting Shadow is one of the first and most lasting transmedia sensations in the popular culture: The character has distinguished pulp-magazine fiction, radio, movies, comics, and (to a lesser extent) television at broad intervals since the 1930s. Here is one of the finer such manifestations - the climactic page from a story called "The Depths," featuring key supporting characters Harry Vincent and Margo Lane. The Shadow himself appears in Panel 6. A bonus is Whigham's Shadow-sketch at the right margin. The overall Whigham-DeCarlo artwork captures a classic Murphy Anderson-style vibe, with its crisp and buoyant lines. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Excellent condition.
