Description

Pokémon Blastoise #2 "Missing Holo Layer" Error Shadowless Base Set Trading Card (Wizards of the Coast, 1999) CGC Excellent 5. Pokémon error cards are highly sought after by collectors' especially ones as rare as the one offered here! This card is from Shadowless Base Set and it features one of the most popular Pokémon in the entire franchise, Blastoise. This card was meant to contain a holographic foil layer, but this particular card does not hence Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) has noted "Missing Holo Layer". A thorough analysis by CGC has confirmed that a production error at Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) caused the holographic foil layer in this card to be missing. Only a few WOTC era cards with this production error have ever arisen; the chance to obtain this piece likely represents a once in a lifetime opportunity. With this error, the illustration by Ken Sugimori more closely resembles the highly sought after "Misty's Trainer Deck B" Blastoise, a non-holographic print briefly produced in 1999 which was not sold publicly. People have stated that this card is a "lost relative" of the 1998 WOTC Test Print Blastoise, two of which have sold this year at public auction for well over six figures each. The sub-grades on this card are: centering (8), surface (4), corners (6.5), and edges (6). This card is a truly significant find from the early WOTC era of Pokemon that will instantly become the focal point of any collection!
