Description
Crusader Rabbit Arson, Sterno, Rags, Crusader Rabbit, and Dudley Nightshade Scene Cel Signed by Jay Ward (Jay Ward, c. 1970s-80s). A fantastic Jay Ward scene cel featuring Crusader Rabbit, his tiger companion Rags, the two-headed dragon Arson and Sterno, and Dudley Nightshade. Signed by creator and studio founder Jay Ward (1920 - 1989), this hand-inked and hand-painted 12 field cel is a real prize for any fan of the groundbreaking series. Crusader Rabbit was Jay Ward's first series, it is also the first animated series produced specifically for television. It premiered on a local Los Angeles station on 8/1/1950 with Lucille Bliss (of Smurfette fame) as the original voice of the title character. Since few production cels exist from this very limited animation series, hand-inked and hand-painted scene cels were created and sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium in Hollywood between 1971 and 2005. Extremely hard to find! The painted image area measures 10" x 5.25" on the 12 field cel. The piece is matted to 18" x 14"with a window size of 10.5" x 9". Condition is Very Good.More information about Jay Ward Studios. See also: Ward Studios Artist.
