Description

Self Control Donald Duck Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1938). "And now, friends, we bring our little program to a close by singing, 'ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Laugh and count to ten!" Donald Duck responds to his optimistic radio program by declaring "I can't stand it! I can't stand it any longer!" From the Jack King-directed theatrical short Self Control, this is an expressive original production cel featuring Donald Duck. This hilarious classic was released on 2/11/1938, and follows Donald as he attempts to relax with his radio only to be antagonized by a caterpillar, a chicken, and a woodpecker. Heritage has previously offered a number of original animation drawings from this theatrical short, but this is only the second time to-date we have seen original nitrate cels! Seen at the 2:32 mark of the film when viewed online, this cel features a spectacular full-figured image of Donald with his signature hat askew after falling from his hammock. The cel is hand-inked and hand-painted on 12 field 5-peghole cel, with Donald measuring a centered 4" x 4.25" and a production code partially visible in the lower right obscured by the mat. The piece has been framed under Plexiglas to an overall size of 19.25" x 17.25" with a mat aperture of approximately 11" x 9". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The cel shows light warping and faint spots of wear to the linework. Remarkably well preserved, this cel is in Very Good condition with light handling.
