Description

Ferdinand the Bull Bugler and White Stallion Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1938). There are a lot of bulls, romping around together and butting their heads but there was one bull who wasn't doing that, and that bull was Ferdinand. All he wanted to do was go under a shady tree and smell the flowers all day. Here is a fantastic Courvoisier production cel setup from the Dick Rickard-directed short, Ferdinand the Bull. The cel features a large 5" x 6.5" image of one of the matadors paired with an original Courvoisier hand-painted, air-brushed background. You can see this cel around the 4:10 mark in the film. In 1939 art dealer, Guthrie Courvoisier was looking for something fresh and obtainable he could represent in his San Francisco art gallery. Being of the same mind, Walt Disney gave Guthrie exclusive rights to market original Disney animation cels. The piece in this lot is one of those sold exclusively at Courvoisier Galleries. The setup is in a 19" x 17" frame under glass with a mat opening of 10.5" x 8.5". Frame sold as-is. Included in this lot and affixed to the back of the frame is the original Certificate of Authenticity issued by Courvoisier Galleries. Condition is Good.
