Description

The Prince and the Pauper Mickey Mouse and Captain Pete Production Cel Signed by Disney Legend Andreas Deja (Walt Disney, 1990). A fantastic original production cel featuring Mickey Mouse and the menacing Captain Pete from Disney's The Prince and the Pauper (1990), the animated short inspired by Mark Twain's classic tale. Set in 16th-century England, the film presents a darker and more dramatic tone than most Mickey Mouse adventures. When the kingdom's beloved King falls gravely ill, his ruthless Captain of the Guard, Pete, seizes the opportunity to exploit the people through greed and cruelty, plunging the land into despair. Against this backdrop, Mickey-as both the humble pauper and the prince-must rise to restore justice and hope. This striking hand-painted cel on 16-field acetate captures Mickey and Pete in vivid color and expressive detail. It is signed by Disney Legend Andreas Deja, who animated both Mickey and the Prince, and features performances by Wayne Allwine, the third official voice of Mickey Mouse, and Arthur Burghardt as Pete. Deja is a highly acclaimed Disney animator and character designer, celebrated for his masterful work during the studio's modern renaissance. A true "animator's animator," Deja's expressive, fluid style and deep understanding of character performance have made him one of the great figures in modern animation. In 2015, he was officially named a Disney Legend, honoring his lasting contributions to the art of hand-drawn animation. Matted to 19" x 13". A superb piece of modern Disney artistry in Very Good condition.
