Description

Opus and Bill: A Wish for Wings That Work Opus and Santa Claus Production Cel Signed by Berkeley Breathed (Amblin/Universal Cartoon Studios, 1991). Here's a rare hand-painted production cel from the first animated special featuring flightless penguin Opus of newspaper comic strip fame, who has a big wish for Santa - "wings that will go!" After saving Santa from crashing into a lake, Opus just might have his wish come true... but maybe not exactly how he imagined, in this television special based on Bloom County and Outland comic strip creator Berke Breathed's book, and directed by Skip Jones. It originally aired on 12/18/1991 on CBS-TV. Santa has an approximate image size of 3.75" x 6" (including his shadow), while little Opus measures 3.5" x 2.75". The background is a print, added for presentation purposes. The cel has been boldly hand-signed by Mr. Breathed, and includes an MCA/Universal seal in the lower left. Matted with an opening of 11.25" x 9", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 20.5" x 18.25". The frame as a few light scratches and scuffs. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. An MCA/Universal Certificate of Authenticity noting the cel as #17 from sequence 7, scene 9, is included on back of the frame. Cel condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
