Description
Fred Moore - "Freddie's Girl" Original Illustration Pair (c. 1940s). This pair of coveted "Freddie's Girls" capture both the effortless charm and undeniable humor Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 - 1952) put into every drawing. Moore was hired by Disney in 1930 at the age of only 19 and quickly grew to become one of the most recognized artists at the studio, not only for his expertise animating Mickey Mouse but also for the beautiful, alluring women he drew. He rendered the full figure pair in this lot expertly graphite with conté crayon. Both are in different stages of undress with one leaning on her arm, almost bored, and the other lounging on the toilet in a gag that might have been created for one of Moore's coworkers. The woman in heels measures about 6.25'' x 9'' and the other is about 6.25'' x 7.25''. The pair come from the personal archive of fellow Disney Legend Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008), and there are similar "Freddie's Girls" drawings on page 121 of the book he co-authored Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life. Prints of this page have been included as reference. The lovely duo are in Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint age-related toning, and light border stains/wrinkles on one page.From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
