Description

101 Dalmatians Towser Art Corner Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1961). Original hand-painted 12 field production cel featuring Towser, the keen-eared bloodhound from Disney's One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), the studio's 17th animated feature directed by Woolie Reitherman, Ham Luske, and Clyde Geronimi from a story by Bill Peet. Stationed at Withermarsh, Towser plays a vital link in the "Twilight Bark" network: he receives word that fifteen puppies have been stolen by Jasper and Horace and quickly relays the alert-after conferring with his friend Lucy the goose-to the Colonel across the road, helping set the rescue into motion at the ominous Hell Hall. This vintage studio cel presents a well-posed image of Towser and is paired with a printed background for display impact. Provenance adds charm: originally sold at Disneyland's famed Art Corner in Tomorrowland (1955-1966), the boutique that reintroduced animation cels to collectors after the Courvoisier Gallery era. The setup is matted to 14" x 12" and retains the Art Corner gold-foil sticker on the reverse-an instantly recognizable hallmark prized by collectors. A characterful artifact from Disney's Xerography era and a key player in the film's relay of heroes. In Very Good condition.
