Description
Peter Pan Rare Mary Darling Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1953). "Oh, Mother! You look simply lovely." "Thank you, dear. Just my old gown made over, but it did turn out rather nicely..." Michael, John, and Wendy's mother, Mary Darling, is as dazzling as ever and making a rare appearance in this gorgeous 16 field color model cel. Like her husband, Mary was in very few scenes in the film and only appears at the beginning and end when her children aren't gallivanting around Neverland. She was voiced by Heather Angel, who also voiced Alice's older sister in Alice in Wonderland, and is preparing to leave with her husband to attend a party. Mary is full figure in her beautiful dress at roughly 4.5'' x 7.75'' in size, happily chatting with her daughter at around 5:56 while her husband waits and grumbles about the pirate map the boys drew on his outfit. The color model cel was created in preparation for the above scene and tested the color palette, this one largely the same as what appears on screen with the exception of the darker blue in Mary's necklace. Displayed on a scene-matching print background with the production, sequence, and scene number on the bottom edge, the cel is a must-have for Peter Pan collectors if you're looking for Mary Darling to complete the family!
