Description

Preston Blair - Preliminary Charcoal Sketches Original Art Group of 2 (c. 1940s). The name of Preston Blair (1908 - 1995) will ring a bell for most animation fans and collectors, as well as would-be animators. For fans and collectors, his animation of the "Red Hot" character in several MGM cartoons directed by Tex Avery instantly comes to mind, while for those would-be's, the how-to books published by Walter Foster that stayed in print for years will be well remembered. Mr. Blair did much more, of course, than just animation art. Here are two original preliminary charcoal sketches of outdoor scenes by Preston Blair, done on 12 field animation paper. One appears to be a California street scene with palm trees, and people gathered around a vending wagon of some sort. The second shows the exterior of a residual building with a set of steps leading up to the front door. Both are large images that nicely fill the page. Condition is Good with minor handling and edge wear, plus some paper toning.
From the Mary Blair Family Trust.
