Description
Disney Limited Edition Commemorative Coins and Coin Holders Group of 9 (Walt Disney, c. 1990s-2000s). The Disney characters have been featured on coins for years, some as official legal tender pieces in various countries, others as commemorative medallions. Here is a collection of coins/medallions from the US, Germany, and Italy. From the US: a silver ounce Merry Christmas/Happy New Year proof coin dated 1990 with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and mice children on the Christmas size, and Uncle Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge from Mickey's Christmas Carol as the New Year 1991 reverse. This coin is in a slightly worn plastic holder, placed in a red-flocked case with a COA numbered 02483/5,000. Next is a brass Donald Duck coin commemorating Disneyland's 45th anniversary, as "45 Years of Magic." This is an ounce-sized coin with some handling wear; it comes with an unnumbered COA card, a "Character of the Month" envelope, and a deep blue flocked pouch. Two coins in plastic holders are from Germany and include a 2001 "Mickey und Seine Freunde" Donald Duck Euro coin in silver-plated copper with a COA numbered 01896 and a brass Cornelius Coot 1 Taler coin with a COA numbered 01656, both ounce-sized. From Italy, we have four red flocked "Scrooge First Cent" coin holders; two are empty, while one has a single small silver proof coin and the other with two larger silver proof cents in a holder with nine spaces; these coins are slightly larger than a US cent. This holder has a COA numbered 1873. The red flocked holders come with snap closures and measure approximately 6.75" x 8.5". In addition, there is an empty German paper envelope-style coin holder in a plastic sleeve. Except for the US Donald Duck coin, the coins are in Mint condition.
