Description
TRON "Dumont" Ektachrome Continuous-Tone Transparency, 2 Exposure Sheets and 2 Studio Folders - Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1982). This striking black and white Kodalith (often referred to as an Ektachrome) features Dumont, the Tower Guardian who narrowly escapes death at the hands of the MCP after aiding the heroes in their attempt to communicate with the real world. Accompanying the Kodalith are two exposure sheets-one from Cuckoos Nest Studios in Taiwan (with offices in Los Angeles) and another internal TRON exposure, also known as a dope sheet. These sheets, also referred to as camera instruction or X-sheets, were used by animators to plan the precise timing and camera movements for each frame. The lot also includes the original studio-used folders for the Ektachrome. TRON received the Academy Award® for Technical Achievement fourteen years after its release. To achieve its revolutionary look, actors and sets were first photographed in black and white on 65mm fine-grain film by cinematographer Bruce Logan. Enlarged Kodaliths like this were then re-photographed through colored filters to create TRON's vivid digital world. Measures 20" x 12" (image area 19" x 8.5").
