Description

The Huckleberry Hound Show Huckleberry Hound Model Sheet Original Art by Dick Bickenbach (Hanna-Barbera, 1958). Hanna-Barbera's second television series (after The Ruff and Reddy Show) was this fondly-remembered syndicated weekly three-segment cartoon, with blue-hued, straw hat-wearing Huck as the host and star of the first segment. Huckleberry spoke in a North Carolina Southern drawl, and his trademark was singing a tone-deaf rendition of "Oh My Darling Clementine" at every opportunity. Here's an amazing and rare original six-pose model sheet of Huck, drawn in graphite by legendary animator and character designer Richard "Dick" Bickenbach (1907 - 1994). Prints were made from this original and used by H-B artists over 60 years ago on this landmark program that also introduced Yogi Bear, who would become a "break-out" star after two seasons. The art is on 12 field animation paper, with two poses cut from other paper and affixed to a backing sheet; a clear protective cel is laid over the artwork. Condition is Good, with masking tape, handling wear, and age-related paper toning.
