20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Original Conseil Costume Concept Sketches by Marc Davis Group of 8 (Walt Disney, 1954). This exclusive collection of eight character costume concept sketches for Conseil, portrayed by Peter Lorre in Walt Disney's iconic live-action film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, showcases the creative genius of Marc Davis (1913 - 2000). Tasked by Walt Disney to conceptualize costume designs, Davis, leveraging insights from his wife, celebrated Hollywood costume designer Alice Davis, used graphite and marker on 16 field animation paper to bring these ideas to life. These sketches reflect the intricate details envisioned for Conseil, complementing the mysterious and adventurous narrative led by Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus. Originating from the private collection of Marc and Alice Davis, this set represents the collaborative artistry behind the scenes of this cinematic classic.
