Description

Chip 'n Dale, Mickey Mouse, and Feature Film Studio-Printed Model Sheets Group of 5 (Walt Disney, c. 1947/50s). A tribute to both what was and what could have been from the personal archive of long-time layout artist and Disney director Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998), presented here are 5 studio-printed model sheets from Disney features including two of Chip and Dale's theatrical shorts, one unproduced Mickey Mouse short, and the feature films Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty. In late 1937 the studio's Character Model Department was founded under supervision of Disney Legend Joe Grant. This department would go on to create documents known as model sheets which were printed in small quantities primarily on photographic paper in what would become a standardized Disney practice. Chip and Dale's sheets include their eponymous 1947 short and Working for Peanuts (1953) under the preliminary title "Peanut Paradise" with both measuring 17" x 14" overall. The 3 remaining sheets all measure 14" x 11" and include Alice in Wonderland's (1951) Card Guards, Sleeping Beauty's (1959) Owl, and a rare Rough Suggestions sheet for the unproduced 1951 Mickey Mouse short The Plight of the Bumblebee. With typical handling and edge wear including age-related toning, fold creases, pin holes, surface wrinkles with minor edge tearing, and light surface wear/debris, overall this unique collection is in Good condition.
