Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro Karl Production/Color Model Cel (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1979). Created for the classic anime film Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, this is an exceptional hand-painted original production/color model cel featuring the dog Karl. The second film to follow the adventures of the master thief Arsène Lupin III, The Castle of Cagliostro was the directorial debut of the celebrated Hayao Miyazaki in his first full-length feature film. A historical triumph and easily the most popular of the many Lupin III films, The Castle of Cagliostro was a formative achievement for the director, paving the way for his masterpiece Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Karl is hand-painted at a centered 7.25" tall. The cel is without pegholes, showing trimming at the top edge. A possible color model cel, this piece shows minor handling and edge wear with a small tear in the upper right corner. Some small spots of paint separation, and the condition is Good.
