Description
The Rescuers Down Under Joanna the Goanna Presentation Cel (Walt Disney, 1990). Here's a rare one! This is a hand-painted presentation cel from The Rescuers Down Under. Because The Rescuers Down Under was nearly completely hand-drawn on paper that was then scanned, painted and composited via computer, there are no production cels. So, presentation cels were created for publicity and presentation purposes. This terrific cel features nice large image of Joanna, Percival McLeach's pet goanna lizard. McLeach, is the main antagonist. It is unknown how he came by his pet lizard, Joanna, but while he accepts her help in his poaching endeavors, he constantly perceives her as incompetent and shows her little patience. Created from the original drawings and source material, hand-painted on 16 field acetate at Disney's Ink and Paint Department in Burbank, the cel is paired with a photographic print of the background. It's a great setup, created for a VIP exhibit. The piece comes to auction from the collection of the former-president of Walt Disney Feature Animation Peter Schneider.
