Description

Robot Carnival "Star Light Angel" Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background and Layout Drawing (A.P.P.P., 1987). The amusement park employee dressed as a robot from the Robot Carnival short "Star Light Angel" is featured here in this remarkable hand-painted original production cel setup. Seen at the 6:53 mark of the American version of Robot Carnival, this delightful piece is presented on an incredible and large Key Master background featuring the robot-themed amusement park with an uncanny resemblance to Disneyland. The background is gorgeously rendered in gouache on background board by artist Yui Shimazaki. The piece as a whole measures an enormous 17.25" x 13.75". Additionally, this lot includes a rare original layout drawing showcasing the zoom camera technique used in the shot. It is rendered in graphite and color pencil with black and red marker on 15.75" x 12.25" animation paper. Both the background and the layout drawing are numbered C-38. The drawing shows handling and edge wear with a vertical fold in the middle and some taping, a small hole and staple marks at the top edge. Its condition is Good. The Key Master setup shows handling and edge wear from normal production use, and it contains two staples near the top edge. The cels' pegholes are attached with tape, and the overall condition of this spectacular piece is Very Good.
