Description

Robot Carnival "Star Light Angel" Production Cel Setup with Master Background (A.P.P.P., 1987). A superb closeup, this hand-painted original production cel setup can be seen at the 10:53 mark (of the American release) of the celebrated anthology classic Robot Carnival, in the "Star Light Angel" sequence. Directed by Zeta Gundam director Hiroyuki Kitazume, the mood of the sequence is significantly inspired by music videos much like A-ha's "Take On Me". The original Master background of the night sky is rendered in gouache by artist Yui Shimazaki, and it shows trimming and edge wear with some tearing on the left side. The setup measures 12" x 10", and the cels also show minor handling and edge wear with taping at the top edge. The cels bear the number A17 in the upper right corner, and the overall condition is Good.
From the Glad Museum Collection.
