Description

Snubbed by a Snob 27" x 10.75" Pan-Sized Production Background (Fleischer Studios, 1940). Offered in this lot is a gorgeous hand-painted background featuring a pleasant field from the Fleischer Studio short Snubbed by a Snob. Part of the Color Classics series, this 1940 cartoon featured Spunky the Donkey getting in trouble with a colt despite the colt's mother not wanting her son to play with Spunky. The frolicking pair anger a bull, and while escaping, we can see, starting at the 6:12 timestamp, this fabulous background presenting the broken wall that the bull crashes on. Measuring an image size of 27" x 10.75", this background is rendered in gouache on 32.75" x 11.25" background board, showing the production number C9-3 on the left edge, the notes "Sc. 51-C93" on the top edge, and bearing a production stamp on its back. This lot is displayed on a 34.5" x 16" mat with a 29" x 10.5" opening, sold as-is. Pinholes can be seen on the top and bottom edges of the board. Presenting light handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.
