Description
"With a Smile and a Song" SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Lithograph #192/300 500 Signed by 4 of "Disney's Nine Old Men"; Ward Kimball, Marc Davis, Frank Thomas, and Ollie Johnston (Walt Disney, 1993). This limited edition lithograph is from a 1993 art show at the Cartoon Museum in San Francisco. The event featured artwork from the Mike and Jeanne Glad Collection which is known to be one of the premiere collections of animation art. The litho is numbered 192/300 and is signed by four of "Walt's Nine Old Men"; Ollie Johnston (1912-2008) renowned for his character animation, Ollie worked on characters like Bambi, Pinocchio, and Baloo. He co-authored "The Illusion of Life," a seminal book on animation, Frank Thomas (1912-2004) celebrated for his emotional storytelling, Frank brought to life characters such as the Queen from Snow White, and Captain Hook. He co-authored "The Illusion of Life" with Ollie Johnston., Marc Davis (1913-2000) known for his versatile talents, Marc brought to life characters like Tinker Bell, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil. His artistic contributions extended beyond animation to theme park attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, and Ward Kimball (1914-2002) known for his whimsical style, Ward animated the characters Jiminy Cricket, the Mad Hatter, and Cheshire Cat. He also contributed to Disneyland attractions as well as being a trombone player in the Firehouse Five - a Dixieland jazz band that regularly appeared in the park. Their collective efforts laid the groundwork for the magic that Disney films are renowned for today. Each member of "Walt's Nine Old Men" brought their unique talents to the table, contributing to the creation of some of the most beloved characters and iconic moments in animation history.
