Description

Mickey's Garden Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1935). In this Wilfred Jackson-directed 1935 animated short, Mickey tries to rid his garden from an invasion of insects by using a pesticide. Naturally, he gets accidentally dosed by his own bug spray, after which he begins having wild hallucinations. During this psychedelic event, Mickey has an encounter with a giant stag beetle, which is depicted in this sequence of original animation drawings. You can see these images starting around the 5:18 mark. Disney Legend Inductee Ollie Johnston, one of "Walt's Nine Old Men," did the layouts for this short while Walt Disney provided the voice for Mickey Mouse. The drawings were rendered in graphite with colored pencil on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. The drawing featuring Mickey is numbered 29. The image of the beetle is a color model sheet numbered 99. This is a rare set of actual working production art and thus will show normal usage; there is some age-related paper toning, handling and edge wear with the pegholes reinforced. Condition is Very Good.
