Description
Boris Vallejo - "The Sphinx II" Painting Original Art (1990). Boris Vallejo presents his second vision of the riddle of the Sphinx. In Greek mythology, the Sphinx sat outside of Thebes and asked a riddle of all travelers who passed by. If the traveler failed to solve the riddle, then the Sphinx killed him or her. If the traveler were to answer the riddle correctly, then the Sphinx would destroy herself. The riddle went, "What travels on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?" Oedipus solved the riddle, and the Sphinx destroyed herself. This oil on paper painting is not framed. The piece has an approximate overall size of 24" x 30", and is in Excellent condition.Auction Info
