Description
Mutt and Jeff by Bud Fisher Newspaper Strip Reprint Books Group of 3 (Ball Publications, 1914-15). Bud Fisher's classic newspaper strip Mutt and Jeff began as A. Mutt in 1907, and is considered one of the very first daily comic strips. Harry "Bud" Fisher was the sports cartoonist for the San Francisco Chronicle, and this strip centered around the world of racetracks and betting on horses before focusing on the antics of tall, lanky Mutt and his shorter pal Jeff. The strip was wildly popular, and reprint volumes quickly appeared for sale. Here are three books in that original series - The Mutt and Jeff Cartoons Book 1 (1914 reprint of 1910 edition - not listed in Overstreet); Book 3; and Book 4 (which is noted as "scarce" in the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide). Book 3 has half of the back cover missing; all three have handling wear, loose pages, tape, etc. Fair overall condition.
