Description
Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color Mickey Mouse 40th Anniversary Show Production Cel Sequence 5 (Walt Disney, 1968). Forty years never looked so good on a mouse! This lot includes an outstandingly rare sequence of five hand-painted production cels from Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color special episode celebrating the 40th anniversary of the most famous mouse. The celebratory episode aired on December 22, 1968, and featured a nostalgic showcase of Mickey's long career. Wearing a similar outfit to the one in the 1942 short Mickey's Birthday Party, the beloved Mickey is featured in full figure across the seven trimmed production cels, carrying a hat and cane, measuring image sizes from 3.75" x 4.5" to 3.25" x 4.25" across the sequence. The cels are offered in mats that measure 11" x 14" with 7.5" x 9.5" openings, and one presented on an 8" x 10" mat with a 4.5" x 6.5" opening. Mats are sold as is. The cels show minor handling wear from production, with some presenting light cracking and faint paint separation.
