Description

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree Owl and Gopher Key Master Setup (Walt Disney, 1966). "Now, obviously, this situation calls for an expert-" "Somebody call for an excavation expert?" From the animated debut of many of our friends in the 100 Acre Wood, we present an outstanding 16 field Key Master Setup of Gopher and Owl from Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. The featurette was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman and premiered on 2/4/1966 with The Ugly Dachshund, adapting the first two chapters of A.A. Milne and E.H. Shephard's beloved children's book. It was notably the last short film to be directly produced by Walt Disney before his passing and was the first appearance of Gopher, an original character who later appeared in both The Many Adventures and The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. This scene is the first time he ever appeared in Winnie the Pooh! Both characters, measuring about 4'' x 6.25'' combined, are displayed on a xerox cel overlay and beautiful watercolor Key Master background. All appear at about 17:23 as Gopher makes a sudden appearance to help Pooh, who has been stuck in the entrance to Rabbit's house after eating too much honey. Background artists included Al Dempster, Bill Layne, Art Riley, and Thelma Witmer and the background includes an 'ok' signoff. A Key Master setup like this from the film is impossible to find and a treasure for those who remember the 100 Acre Wood. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, pinholes, faint toning, and tape at the edges.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
