Description

Disneyland "Tricks of Our Trade" Mickey Mouse Art Corner Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1957). "He can turn so that we see all sides of him. There's nothing flat about him." Walt Disney detailed technological and artistic improvements in animation in "Tricks of Our Trade", an episode of the Disneyland anthology series that released on 2/13/1957, and covered everything from special effects to the studio's use of the multiplane camera. Mickey Mouse was one of the examples he used when showcasing more fluid animation and the mouse is full figure in the Art Corner production cel in this lot, centered on the hand-painted and hand-inked. He measures roughly 4.75'' x 5.5'' appears at around 19:19 as the narrator describes how Mickey can appear closer or further away and even spin 360 degrees. The cel was originally sold at Disneyland's Art Corner store in Tomorrowland, which sold original cels and production art from 1955 to 1966. Presented in a 14'' x 11'' mat with the golden Art Corner sticker and a stamp on the reverse, the hard-to-find cel is in Very Good condition with light handling wear, faint ripples, and minor paint wear.
