Susie the Little Blue Coupe Susie in Traffic Jam Layout Drawing by Ken O'Connor (Walt Disney, 1952). The prominent layout artist and Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (1908 -1998) showcases his stunning artistic skills in this stupendous layout drawing from Disney's endearing short Susie the Little Blue Coupe, featuring the unforgettable scene in which our beloved vehicle is stuck in traffic. Based on a short story by Bill Peet, this Clyde Geronimi-directed cartoon debuted on June 6, 1952, featuring the ups and downs of a newly purchased car's life. Stunningly detailed, this extraordinary layout drawing shows a scared Susie stuck in the middle of a street, while the rest of the vehicles look upset at her, similar to what we see at the 3:22 mark of the short. The drawing is done by O'Connor in graphite with blue pencil on Susie on a 16-field three-peghole animation sheet, noting that this drawing was created to plan for scene 48 on production 2431, featuring an impressive overall image size of 13.5" x 10.25". A blue layout document is stapled to the left edge of the drawing. Showing typical handling and edge wear from production as well as normal age-related toning, this lot is in Very Good condition.From the Ken O’Connor Archive.
