Description
The Unbearable Bear Henry Bear and Wife Animation Drawings Group of 3 (Warner Brothers, 1943). "Why Henry, you shouldn't have... just what I always wanted!" Henry Bear the Cop turns a bad situation into good, in this rare group of three original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings from a Chuck Jones-directed cartoon (that also served as voice artist June Foray's first WB short). In the short, Henry has stayed out all night getting tipsy while a fox breaks in and tries to open the safe, all while dealing with talkative Sniffles the mouse. The drawings include inebriated Henry sneaking into the house, lifting a finger to shush any noise as he comes through the door, as seen at the 3:11 mark. The graphite drawing has an approximate image size of 6.5" x 7.25", noted as 36 in the lower right. Next, we see still-groggy Henry after changing into his nightshirt (leaving his policeman's helmet on), in a great graphite and blue pencil image from 3:47; size is 6" x 7.25", numbered 74. In the final drawing as seen at the 7:28 mark, the fox has been knocked out and wrapped around sleepwalking Mrs. Bear's neck, who wakes up and thinks she's been given a fox fur stole by her loving husband. The graphite and red pencil art has a combined image size of 9" x 6.5", with the notation 2 in the lower right corner. Any and all production art from a World War II-era Warner Bros cartoon is considered scarce! The condition is Good to Very Good. The last drawing has age-related paper toning and stains along the bottom and left edge. All three have some handling and edge wear.Auction Info
