Description

101 Dalmatians Puppies Art Corner Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1961). Presented in this lot is an original hand-painted 12 field production cel featuring six of the spirited Dalmatian puppies from Disney's One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), the studio's 17th animated feature directed by Woolie Reitherman, Ham Luske, and Clyde Geronimi from a story adapted by Bill Peet. Brimming with personality, the soot-covered pups cluster together in crisp xerography-era linework, their spots and expressions playing off one another in a lively group pose. In the film, Pongo and Perdita's fifteen puppies are kidnapped by Cruella De Vil, prompting a daring rescue that ultimately grows the family to a heartwarming 101. This vintage studio cel presents excellent display appeal. Provenance is especially desirable: it was originally sold at Disneyland's famed Art Corner in Tomorrowland (1955-1966), the boutique that brought authentic production cels back to collectors after the Courvoisier Gallery years. The setup is matted to 11" x 12" and retains the Art Corner gold-foil sticker on the reverse, a hallmark prized by animation enthusiasts. A charming, character-rich artifact celebrating Disney's mid-century design and storytelling. In Very Good condition.
