Description
Lady and the Tramp Tony, Lady, and Tramp Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1955). "This is the night. It's a beautiful night, and we call it bella notte." From Disney's animated classic Lady and the Tramp, we have in this lot a fantastic hand-painted and hand-inked production cel featuring full-figure images of our lovely titular couple, accompanied by the cheerful Tony. Released over 70 years ago, on June 16, 1955, this movie tells the romantic story of a Cocker Spaniel from an affluent family falling in love with a stray mutt, based on the Ward Greene story "Happy Dan, the Cynical Dog," and Joe Grant's experience with his dog after his baby was born. The three-layer cel shows the happy Lady (measuring 3.25" x 3") as she appears at the 29:31 mark of the movie, while Tramp shows up at the 15: 32 timestamp (2.75" x 4.25"), and the excited Tony, with arms up in the air (5.25" x 3.5"), can be seen at the 45:11 mark, thrilled to see "Butch" (Tramp) arrive for dinner. This lot is displayed on a 14.75" x 14.5" mat with an 8.75" x 8.5" mat opening, sold as-is. The cel layers have been trimmed. Presenting minor handling and edge wear from production, this wonderful lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
