Description
The Land Before Time Petrie, Mother, and Siblings Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background and Animation Drawing (Don Bluth Studios, 1988). "Mama, I a flyer!" Petrie flaps his wings so vigorously he lifts his mother and blows his siblings out of frame in this original production cel setup with Key Master background from The Land Before Time, Don Bluth's cherished feature film on which George Lucas and Steven Spielberg served as executive producers. After a perilous journey, the mismatched band of young dinosaurs finally reunite with their kin, showing off what they've learned along the way. Noted as sequence 017 of scene 07, this frame can be spotted during the heartfelt conclusion just after the prehistoric friends have finally reached the Great Valley and are able to each rejoin their families at the end of the film. The stunning setup features Petrie, his mother known among fans as Mama Flyer, and four of his siblings, all ranging in size from 1.5" x 2.25" to 3.75" x 4.75" on the phenomenal hand-painted multilayer cel which also includes an effects layer that emphasizes the strength of Petrie's gusts. The grand 16 field cel is presented on its original hand-painted Key Master background which has been stunningly rendered in gouache. Accompanying the setup is a matching animation drawing featuring Petrie and his mother rendered in graphite and blue pencil on 16 field animation paper. Both the cel and drawing have been framed under Plexiglas to similar sizes; the cel to an overall measurement of 21.25" x 17.25" with an aperture of 15.25" x 11.25" and the drawing to 20.25" x 16.75" overall with an aperture of 15" x 11". The cel bears an official silver The Land Before Time studio seal, and both pieces are joined by Certificates of Authenticity. Overall, the condition is Very Good. All frames are sold as-is.
