Neon Genesis Evangelion Eva Unit 01 Production Cel (Gainax, c. 1995-96). A dramatic image of the iconic neon green and purple Evangelion Unit 01, this is an enormous original production cel from the beloved, influential, and critically acclaimed Neon Genesis Evangelion. Piloted by the series' protagonist Shinji Ikari, the unique design of Eva Unit 01 is representative of the series itself, known for its innovative and deconstructive approach to the age-old mecha genre. Influencing countless anime titles since its release, Neon Genesis Evangelion is considered to have revitalized the anime industry in Japan and globally. This is a great image of the series' flagship biological robot, and it is hand-painted large, nearly filling the 12 field cel. The piece is numbered A21 in the upper right corner.
