Description

Bambi Rare Bambi Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1942). "Why don't you try some?" From the 1942 animated masterpiece Bambi, we present a stunning and rare 12 field production cel of the titular fawn. Bambi is nearly full figure at roughly 3.5'' x 4'' and beautifully hand-inked and hand-painted. The film was Disney's ambitious attempt at more realistic animation, and this is what led to the films lengthy production period of almost nine years after MGM purchased the rights to the original novel Bambi, A Life in the Woods in 1933. Bambi was one of the hardest to settle on a design for when finding the balance between realism and stylized proportions, but with the help of one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Marc Davis he became the adorable deer you see here. Bambi was created for about 23:46 in the film during his first time playing in the meadow. He found his friend Thumper and his family, and was invited to try one of his favorite foods: clovers. The cel is displayed on a print background for presentation purposes and is numbered in the lower right, though part of this number has worn off over the years. Good to Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint rippling to the cel.
