Description
The Lion King Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed Employee-Exclusive Limited Edition Cel Artist's Proof #AP1 (Walt Disney, 1994). "Do it again. Come on," Shenzi says, challenging Simba to roar again. The trio of Hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed are fully displayed in this sensational hand-painted employee-exclusive limited edition cel from the Disney movie The Lion King. Created by the Walt Disney Studios Ink and Paint Department, cels like these are very rare since the beloved Disney movie did not use any cels in its production. The cels were offered only to employees of the Disney Feature Animation department who worked on the film, never meant to be sold to the public! Occupying an image size of 13" x 11.25", Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed (voiced by Whoopie Goldberg, Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin, and Jim Cummings) show up as seen at the 21:47 mark of the film, taken from the original animation drawing and transferred to acetate with a six-step xerographic process with hand-inked lines. This already incredibly rare cel is also numbered AP1 in the bottom right corner, marking this as an Artist Proof made for the president of the Disney's feature animation department at the time, Peter Schneider, to approve. The cel bears a Walt Disney Feature Animation stamp in the bottom left corner and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Minor handling wear.
