Collier's "I Saw It First" Magazine Cartoon Illustration by Preston Blair (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Two US tanks compete for a ramshackle farmhouse target in this spectacular original cartoon illustration for Collier's magazine by Preston Blair (1908 - 1995). Well known for his animation work for Walt Disney Productions and MGM Studios, Preston Blair famously animated iconic scenes from Fantasia, including the Mickey Mouse scenes in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and the hippo-alligator dance in "Dance of the Hours." This stunning original wartime cartoon by the artist is rendered masterfully in ink on 14.25" x 11.75" board, and the piece bears Preston Blair's signature in the lower right corner. The back of the illustration bears a Collier's magazine publication stamp, listed as the March issue and the title "Army Tanks." The date "Jan. 17/42" is also listed on the back. Overall minor handling and edge wear with age-related toning, and the condition of this rare find is Very Good.
