Description

Chester Gould Dick Tracy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-9-71 (The Chicago Tribune, 1971). After a period of waning quality during the 1960s, Dick Tracy entered the 1970s with a return to his roots: catching crooks and keeping the streets safe. The example offered here is Tracy at his best, with weird characters, gadgets, and plenty of action! An entry in the ever-popular Crimestoppers Textbook tops this piece, which has an ink on two pieces of conjoined Bristol board image area of 21.25" x 25.25". Unlike Gould's earlier strips, this piece is done entirely on the board, rather than in individual panels. The title panel is a stat, but all the rest is purely original, and is offered in Very Good condition, with marginal notes and markings. From the Ray Edw Collection.
