Description

The Black Hole Concept Painting by Peter Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, 1979). In the year 2130, an exploratory spaceship, the U.S.S. Palomino, is returning from a deep space exploration mission when they discover a missing ship, commanded by a mysterious scientist, on the edge of a black hole. From the development of the sci-fi film The Black Hole, we present a superb concept piece by the legendary matte painter Peter Ellenshaw (1913 - 2007). Ellenshaw began his filmmaking career in the early 1930s as a matte painter while still living in England. Peter would ultimately land a job with Walt Disney doing visual effects and matte paintings on Treasure Island (1950). He worked on over 50 films, winning an Oscar for his work on Mary Poppins, and was inducted into Disney's Hall of Fame program as an official Disney Legend in 1993. A real masterpiece from the master of visual effects. The piece is framed with a mat window size of 29.5" x 26" and an overall mat size of 26.25" x 19.25". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Minimal handling, and Very Good condition.
