Description
Perfect Blue Mima 11" x 18" Pan-Sized Key Master Setup with Lips and Eyes Production Cel Group of 5 and Animation Drawing Group of 5 (Madhouse, 1997). "But CHAM did teach me a lot. It was a great experience in its own way." Mima Kirigoe is showcased elegantly dressed in this lot, featuring an incredibly rare Key Master setup, consisting of a five-layer hand-painted production cel with its Key Master background, from the cult-classic anime thriller Perfect Blue, showcasing our protagonist as seen starting at the 38:29 mark of the film, as she answers about her previous work as a pop idol. Based on the novel of the same name by Yoshizaku Takeuchi, Perfect Blue was Satoshi Kon's first full-length animated movie. Originally planned to be a live-action series, the production shifted to animation after an earthquake in the Japanese city of Kobe in 1995 damaged the production house. This gorgeous image of Mima has the up-and-coming actress measuring a stunning image size of 8.75" x 12.75" on the 11" x 18" pan-sized cel, presented on the impressive Key Master background, created in gouache on 10.5" x 16" background board. The lot comes with an additional three production cels featuring the animation on Mima's eyes, and two with her mouth, accompanied by the matching animation drawings rendered in graphite with colored pencil shadings and details, with some showing notes in red ink. The production cel of Mima shows some fading on the linework, it has some of the layers adhered together, faint surface scratches that don't affect the art, minor stains on Mima, and has its layers taped by the top corners and taped to the background by the top edge. The Key Master background has staple holes in the bottom left corner. The group of cels shows minor surface scuffing that doesn't affect the art and tape on the two-layer cels, with the animation drawings showing the pegholes taped to the bottom edge. Overall, the lot displays normal light handling and edge wear from production and is in Very Good condition.More information about Madhouse Artist.
