This sequence was gorgeously re-animated for the film, adding sharper detail, more bounce to Rei's hair, and a cleaner reflection effect of Shinji in Rei's eyes. An impressive image, Rei completely fills the 12 field cel. The piece is joined by its matching original animation drawing rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field animation paper.
