Neon Genesis Evangelion "Magma Diver" Eva Unit 02 and Sandalphon Production Cel (Gainax, 1995). Equipped with the D-Type Equipment armor, a magma-resisting outfit, the Eva Unit 02 battles the 8th Angel, Sandalphon, in this spectacular hand-painted production cel from the episode "Manga Diver" of the cult-classic anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. When an Angel in embryonic state is discovered in an active volcano, Nerv sees an opportunity to capture it and study Angels. As seen in this lot, Asuka is sent, piloting her respective Eva, to retrieve the embryo until the Angel starts developing at an accelerated rate, turning the mission into a fight for survival. Seen briefly at the 18:17 mark of the episode, this thrilling 12-field cel, shows one of the highlights of the gripping encounter, as Asuka attempts to stab Sandalphon with Unit 02's Progressive Knife. The cel, numbered A10 in the top right corner, showcases a stunning image size of 9" x 8.75", offered on a printed background for presentation purposes. The cel shows very light fading on the linework and has minor handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.
