Description

Mickey Mouse and his Space Ship Little Golden Book Front Cover Illustration by Norm McGary Original Art plus Mechanical Art and #D108 Published Book (Walt Disney/Golden Press, 1963). Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck take a rocket trip to the Moon on this way-out original cover painting by Norm McGary (1930 - 2012). It was the book's second cover; the original 1952 edition's cover had the boys still in space as they approached the Moon. In this new cover, we see Mickey bouncing high from the Moon's low gravity as Donald watches from the rocket ship's open door. The painting is in gouache on heavy illustration board measuring approximately 12" x 14" with an image size of 8.5" x 9.75". With the art is the printer's mechanical of the front cover, using a black and white photo print of the art with the title and publisher's "trade dressing" added on a board measuring 10.75" x 12.5". A copy of the published book is included. The art is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear and small stains in the outer borders.
