Description
Perfect Blue Rumi Production Cel (Madhouse, 1997). "What do you think? Perfect, huh?" Under the frightful delusion that she is the real Mima, Rumi performs one of the songs by the pop idol. From the unsettling final act of the cult-classic anime film Perfect Blue, we have in this lot a fantastic hand-painted production cel of the deranged manager Rumi Hidaka, posing as Mima. Based on the novel of the same name by Yoshikazu Takezuchi, this movie premiered in Japanese theaters on February 28, 1998, featuring Satoshi Kon's (1963 - 2010) feature-length film directorial debut. At about the 1:10:35 mark of the movie, we get to see this fantastic picture of the character, with Rumi measuring a figure size of 7" x 7.5" on this 13.75 " x 9.25 cel. This cel is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes. Mild fading can be seen on the linework, and the cel shows faint handling and edge wear from production.
