Description

Pinocchio Early Preliminary Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 by Disney Legend Fred Moore (Walt Disney, 1940). Pinocchio takes his first steps in this RARE early preliminary sequence of three animation drawings from Disney's 1940 masterpiece! Each graphite with color pencil drawing is full figure and was created by Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 - 1952), who was known for his incredible draftsmanship, animation, and his "Freddie's Girls". These historical animation drawings were part of an early animation test created from model sheets with Pinocchio's more wooden design, and the first drawing can be spotted at about 4:43 in the documentary "The Making of Pinocchio: No Strings Attached". Disney was unhappy with the stiff, geometric look of the character and he was later redesigned to have the more child-like look we all remember. Each of these drawings are incredibly expressive, proof of Moore's ability to bring a character to life no matter the challenges. The figures range from roughly 3.75'' x 4.5'' to 4.25'' x 4.75'' and are marked 676, 748, and 751 in the lower right. Collectors of Fred Moore and early Disney art won't want to let this lot walk away! Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.
