Description
Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse WWII Nose Art Gag Drawing Group of 3 (Walt Disney, c. 1942-45). This fantastic group presents three full pages of in-studio wartime gag concept sketches from the Disney studio during World War II. A total of six fully-developed gag drawings are present across the three sheets, with an additional thumbnail sketch, and an additional seven slogans. Each illustration has a slogan of sorts giving motivation to Allied troops while disparaging the Axis forces. In total, five of the drawings depict Donald Duck, while one drawing and the thumbnail depict Mickey Mouse. These humorous gag drawings were likely designed for airplane nose art or for posters. The drawings are created with graphite and colored pencil, as well as a small newspaper paste-on for one of the gags. They are created on sheets of yellow paper measuring about 8.5" x 11" each. One of the pages has a horizontal fold and vertical fold down its middle, and all show handling and edge wear, including minor tears, creasing, age-related toning, some scuffing, some minor staining, and creasing. They are in Good condition overall.Auction Info
